'Aida' closes the 27 opera season of the Teatro Principal
The famous opera by Giuseppe Verdi will close the 27 opera season of the Teatro Principal in Palma de Mallorca, with performances the upcoming 23, 26, 28 and 30 of June. With script in Italian by Antonio Ghislanzoni, this four-act opera was premiered at the Opera Theatre Khedive in Cairo on 24th of December 1871.
The story is about Aida, an Ethiopian princess, captured and sent to Egypt as a slave. General Radames, hopelessly in love with the young Ethiopian, has to fight between his loyalty to the Pharaoh and the love for Aida. The plot is a bit tangled when Pharaoh's daughter, Amneris, falls in love with Radames.
With Eugenia Bethencourt in the role of Aida and Myung Ji Hoon playing Radames, the opera has the participation of the Choir of the Teatro Principal de Palma and the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands.
