CineCiutat celebrates one year of being open with a party
A year ago a diverse group of people formed a group in order to save the ”Cine Renoir”. The result was that the “CineCiutat” was born, a project that has so far been supported by 35,000 cinema goers and about 1,300 members. The survival of this cultural project is to be celebrated tomorrow with a party, from 19.30pm at s'Escorxador where new initiatives and actions will be unveiled. There will be performances musicians Jaume Tugores, Wonderbrass, and a dj.
After a year of this "exciting project", in which 140 people have been actively involved, CineCiutat has today "two objectives": The confirmation of the continuing commitment of the members and the adaption to digital. In order to re-open all the screens by the end of the year, they are hoping for the support of sponsors or collaborators. One of the ways of supporting the project will ber sponsor an armchair, an initiative that offers the chance to have your name displayed on a seat from 50 cents a day.
The CineCiutat manager, Javier Pachon, said that new programme of events for the summer is being prepared, such as open-air cinema or continuing to show periods of film themes from Cinefilms.
