'El Molinar': Traditional fishing Neighborhood
"El Molinar" is, along with Santa Catalina, the most fashionable district of Palma de Mallorca. It is a traditional fishing neighborhood, which historically was a summer resort of the citizens of Palma for its proximity, due to its position just a kilometer away from the historic city center.
"El Molinar" ("mills area") was named for the flour mills which abounded in the late nineteenth century and today is well known for its fishing tradition. The first fishermen houses were built in the Portitxol and those type of properties spread along the coast, creating a beautiful facade of houses of great historical and architectural value along the avenue that runs from the city of Palma to "Ciudad Jardín".
Recently the properties of the El Molinar and Portitxol have increased its value not only because of the charm of living in a fishing village, but also for its lively day and night and its proximity to Palma. Very close to the Portitxol Yacht Club lies this impressive and spacious seafront penthouse (ref. 315116), offered for sale by the Real Estate agency Dost & Co.
