“Es Firó” in Sóller, a fantastic spectacle!
This Monday, the 13th of May the inhabitants of Sóller and the Port re-enact, as every year, the battle that took place between the Moors and Christians way back in 1561. The population was invaded by Turkish and Algerian fleets of pirates. Held with great passion, this colourful and realistic festival celebrates its cultural heritage by dressing up as both the invaders and locals, in traditional costumes of that time period.
‘’Es Firó’’ has become throughout these last few years more than just a celebration of a town festival. Nowadays, we could definitely state it as one of the most well-known festivals in Majorca, with an outstanding success in terms of attendance.
