Life Marina: When the architecture and Ibiza’s lifestyle merge
Of the hundreds of places where I have constructed in the world, the one that interests me the most is the Mediterranean, for its light and the open character of its people. To do a project in Ibiza, is to work in the heart of the Mediterranean.
Architect, Life Marina
When somebody stares at the waterfront of the city of Ibiza, the first thing that causes an incomparable visual stimulus due to its beauty and originality is the building Life Marina Ibiza. The sumptuous and immaculate shapes of the facade of the building Las Boas is so captivating as stimulant. One of the greatest achievements of the French architect Jean Nouvel in this project is the seamless integration of Life Marina with its environment. Placed in front of the Unesco World Heritage site of Ibiza’s Old Town, Dalt Vila, the sumptuous shapes of its facade are inspired by the form of an Ibizan cove, whose essence is captured by Nouvel through the use of white as background colour. Nature is as well one of the most important features of Life Marina, with staggered balconies decorated with green plants which contribute to the extraordinary projections of light and colours of the whole building. Each apartment is unique, with outstanding attention to details. They even incorporate trencadís, a mosaic of Catalan modernism made from fragments of pottery.
Our office of Dost & Co. in Ibiza offers two of the original Life Marina apartments on the second and fifth floors of the building. The first one (935103) offers 220m2 of constructed area, 5 bedrooms and stunning views to the sea, the harbour Marina Ibiza and Dalt Vila. The second apartment (935104) features 116 m2 of constructed area, 2 bedrooms and a big terrace.
Awarded the prestigious Pritzker Prize in 2008, the also designer Jean Nouvel has become one of the contemporary architects with the most personal and singular style, a recognition that comes after designing the Arab World Institute in Paris and the Agbar tower in Barcelona, among other beauties of contemporary architecture.
