Mallorca and interpretation of the landscape
The museum Es Baluard of Modern and Contemporary Art of Palma will host from 2nd of February until 26th of May the exhibition Mallorca and interpretation of the landscape, a collection of 29 paintings by national and international artists that reflect the landscape of Mallorca in the latest nineteenth century and early twentieth century.
Curated by Soad Houman and Catherine Joy, the exhibition includes a selection of paintings thanks to which Modernism and Symbolism were introduced into Mallorca, along with the Mallorcan pictorial tradition linked to Academicism. Painted between 1872 and 1934, the works selected represent Mallorca's natural landscape (in particular, Bunyola, Deia, Valldemossa, Sóller and Pollensa), and the urban environment of the city of Palma de Mallorca. An essential exhibition to admire the scenic value of the pictorial evolution Mallorca and artists on the island.
