Old Mallorca's photographs by Tom Weedon
The "Arxiu del So i de la Imatge del Consell de Mallorca" has organized an exhibition of 140 old photographs between 1956 and 1970 by foreign artists who discovered the island of Mallorca. Under the title Ulls del temps (Eyes of the time), the exhibition will be on the ground floor of the building "La Misericordia" in Palma de Mallorca.
Among the photographers, the Englishman Tom Weedon, who in 1956 moved with his family to Fornalutx, fascinated by the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains. When he died, his daughter Cordelia started to take pictures of the landscapes of Mallorca and making portraits.
This exhibition not only shows pictures of a great historical and documentary value, but also photos that reflect aspects of Mallorca that probably would have remained unnoticed by Mallorcan citizens.
