Rubens, Brueghel and Lorena at CaixaForum in Palma
Until the upcoming 29th of September the art gallery CaixaForum in Palma de Mallorca will host the exhibition Rubens, Brueghel, Lorena. El paisaje nórdico en el Prado (Rubens, Brueghel, Lorena. The northern landscape in El Prado), a selection of works ascribed to the landscape genre developed in the seventeenth century by authors from the main centers of production and evolution of this genre of painting: basically Flanders and the Netherlands. It also shows the so-called "Italianate landscape" which produced several northern Europe and France authors in Rome.
This exquisite selection of works by Peter Paul Rubens, Jan Brueghel, Claudio de Lorena, etc., comes from the funds of the Prado Museum. The exhibition, curated by Teresa Posada Kubissa, traces a path that allows you to discover the evolution of landscape painting and its types. In many cases, mythology and religion were used as a pretext to portray the grandeur of the natural environment and its details. Later on, with the introduction of daily subjects, painting genre evolved into the manners in which the landscape painting genre gained independence as itself. The painting of the photo is Abundance and the Four Elements, by Brueghel the Elder.
