School Complex in Binissalem
The architectural studio Tizon Ripoll has designed this school complex that combines both a primary and a secondary school in Binissalem, in the heart of Majorca. This building has been designed by the architects Pep Ripoll and Juan Manuel Tizón and promoted by the Institut d'Infrastructures i Serveis Educatius i Culturals (IBISEC).
RipollTizon explains that the building was designed to reference the different scales of its neighbours: "From the beginning, our intent was to develop the project as a dialogue, on different scales, between the school and its surroundings."
Bold blocks of colour at ground level contrast with the white upper storeys of this school. According to RipollTizon, "the intention of using colour in some parts of the facade is to create a background for the children" because of their colourful clothing.
