The film that named the beach 'El Mago'
On Wednesday CineCiutat will screen in original version at 8 pm the film The Magus, recorded in Andratx in 1968. This is one of the most iconic films that were shot in Majorca in the sixties. Starring Michael Caine and Anthony Quinn, this film is part of the cycle Adventure and Fantasy Cinema shot in Majorca and organized by the Sound and Image Archive of Mallorca.
An English teacher (Michael Caine) arrives at a Greek island to occupy a vacancy. The previous teacher committed suicide under mysterious circumstances, and with the arrival of the new teacher begins a strange game organized by a local magician, Maurice Concha (Anthony Quinn). One of the scenarios that simulate the Greek island is the beach so-called 'El Mago' (The Magus), which received this name due to the importance this shooting had in the area.
